I was reminiscing about childhood and crayons this week while coloring with my lil man Reilly. I vividly remembered coloring with my crayons as a child. Now I use colored pencils whenever I’m working on a design sketch while using Photoshop or Illustrator when working on the computer. But, I’ll always remember the fun I had with crayons and the happiness they brought. It occurred to me that as adults, we’ve forgotten about this simple love we had with crayons as children so this week’s Living With Color is about adapting crayon colors into our lives beyond what we do with our children. I was reading a few magazines the other day with paint color still on my mind due to my basement/office remodel. I have one wall painted, but I’m just not motivated to move on and paint the rest of the room. The magazine articles inspired me to look at some Behr paint colors using their visual color center on their website. On Monday, our inspiration design board was dedicated to floral print decor. Then I remembered our post in September about wall decals and realized I missed something that could have been included as part of the board – Floral wall decals. Living in a multi-level split level home, we don’t have many hallways in our home. In fact, I can’t even really call it a hallway… it’s a stairway really, but I’d like to give it some color. I decided to take a look at some colors within the Sherwin-Williams visualizer this week to see how dramatic a hallway can look depending on it’s color.
You can go truly bold with shades of rose and orange or you can go as natural as beige or light brown. I decided to use one of their images and colored the hallway wall a variety of colors for you to see the difference.

Can’t believe it’s already September. Felt like only yesterday when 2011 began. Now that it’s September, I’m so excited because Fall is coming! I love Autumn… it’s my favorite season of the year. Why? I simply love the cool weather – not hot and not too cold. I love wearing my Fall clothing – bringing out the light jackets and sweaters along with the occasional scarf and gloves. Going apple picking. Most of all, I truly enjoy watching the Fall colors change in nature … watching the leaves change colors. It’s absolutely beautiful. So, I decided to dedicate this weeks Living with Color post to an inspiration of Fall colors.
