Inspiration Design Board: Basements
One of the things I want to work on is my basement. It’s very disorganized and cluttered because it’s a multi-purpose room. The basement serves as my office area, my brother’s exercise area, crafting, laundry, storage and once was a location for entertaining. It sounds busy doesn’t it?
For the last few months, I’ve been looking at designs in search of inspirational designs for redoing my basement. Ideally, I’d like to have something more organized, appealing to the eyes and functional. Here are some designs that caught my eye.
This room was designed by Candice Olson and featured on HGTV. It’s functional and net. The recessed light helps make the basement bright and cozy at the same time.
I’m dreaming of a nice bar and entertainment area for my basement, even though I know spacing is a problem. This doesn’t stop me from looking at designs with these two elements in mind. I found this one on Interior Design Pro. There’s an area for an added kitchen, three eat-in counters and french doors to an exercise room.
One of the biggest issues I have with my basement is how narrow it is. It’s long more than wide. Looking for inspiration designs has proven to be a little challenging because many of the designs I found all have an open space basement. I found this basement on Canadian House & Home designed by Peter Fallico. It’s only a partial view, but shows the narrowness of my basement. While it’s narrow, this basement design makes the room bright and not cluttered. I’m liking the shelving on the opposite side of the sofa which could hold a television set and other entertainment items.
On Build-a-Bedroom, I saw this example for the basement. What I like about this basement is there’s a space for everything without looking cluttered. Seating, entertainment, a possible office area along the back wall and an entry way to other areas in the back which could serve as storage or even the office depending on the spacing there.
