Living With Color: Chanukah – The Festival of Lights

12.22.2011

Last night was the second night of Chanukah, so today, in the spirit of the Festival of Lights, we share the colors of the menorah lighting with you.

With each night, another candle on the menorah is lit. While the eight candles that represent each night of Chanukah sit in a straight line on one level, the candle in the middle stands out from the rest. This candle is called the shamash, the servant light. You light this candle first then use it to light each of the other candles from left to right. There are more details on the lighting of the menorah and those can be found at Torah Tots. Happy Chanukah!
