It’s Wednesday! Last week, I read a story about a child… a very sad story. She was climbing on furniture and was injured because a dresser toppled over. While the story ended somewhat happily – the little girl survived, the story was heart wrenching to read. So, this week, I’m going to keep it simple… A tip for ALL parents. Whether you’re a first time parent or a long time parent.
Here’s my tip – for the safety of your children and your sanity:
Bolt all your dressers and bookshelves to the wall.
Because no matter what you do – you cannot always have an eye on them. Especially if you’re in the bathroom and they’re playing in the house. I’ll take it one step further.
Bolt anything down that leans against the wall or is up against the wall.
It’s such a simple thing to do with screws, a screwdriver, possibly a drill for the holes, some brackets and takes only minutes to do for each piece of furniture. It will save your child’s life. Really.
I urge you to do it right now if you haven’t. And for first time parents – put it on your to-do list to have it done before your baby comes home. Do it before it’s too late.
